Seventh Week of Semester 2

Day : Wednesday

Date : 14/4/2021

Time : 10.00 a.m. - 11.10 a.m.

Before we started our lesson, Dr. Shukri gave a thoughtful advice and comment regarding our last week's challenge. Dr. Shukri told us to improve our understanding regarding composition as he noticed that some students still can't understand about composition. For me, Dr. Shukri really concerned about his students because he wanted the best out of his students. I really appreciate Dr. Shukri's advice regarding this matter. Hopefully, I can improve my understanding about the topic 'Composition'.

After that, we learnt about Photography Theme. Photography Theme can be described as a subject matter you can focus in on to organize and expand your photography interest or portfolio. As for photography theme, we learnt about Black & White (B&W) photography which also known as monochromatic photography, is the art of using different tones of gray, ranging from white to dark, to create compelling images. After that, we were introduced to Street Photography. For me, Street Photography is really simple because there's always event happening everytime, like cars etc. However, the way that we want to capture it is not easy. It requires skills and a good street photography should contain messages. Therefore, I need to learn more about street photography as it is one of the best photography for beginners like me.

Also, we learnt about Photo Essay. A photo is worth 1000 words. Photo Essay can be described as a form of visual storytelling that lets the photos tell the story instead of words. It is compiled in an order to tell a story. In simpler words, Photo Essay is story in the form of picture.

Therefore, from these three topics that we learnt, Dr. Shukri told us to capture a day of us during Ramadhan period. We are required to prepare Photo Essay in B&W Theme. So, I started to capture from the moment that I woke up for Sahoor period. Then, I read Quran, followed by performing Solat Subuh and Zikr. At the morning, I entered online class. During the evening, I began to help my family to prepare food to break our fast. Then, I break my fast before went to Surau to perform Solat Teraweeh. After finished Solat Teraweeh, I folded the mat. The END.

That's it for the challenge this week. I find that it is a bit challenging because I don't have any siblings to help me capture the photo. So, I setup my phone at tripod to capture photo of myself. Nevertheless, I like the challenges because it is like having a personal diary. I'm never a fan of capturing photo of myself. So, capturing photo of myself in a day of Ramadhan is really a great experience and I'm starting to like capturing photo of myself.
